Ah! - the magical combination of King Winter and Jack Frost from this verse has just enamored The Little Guy; each morning we have been checking for evidence of them outside, and at night we wonder if they will be visiting while we sleep, and bring frost or snow!

Food Waste Friday ... And An Advent Blessing
I just love The Frugal Girl blog. Really - just love!
Each week (well - most weeks) she blogs about her food waste, a kind of public declaration, aimed to reduce her own food waste. ,

Here's the funny thing about Food Waste Friday ... when you know that its coming, you try really hard not waste anything. So I have a zero waste week.
Nothing!
Which is good for my fridge and pocketbook, but doesn't make a particularly exciting blog post.
So, rather than leave you with that, here's a picture of our Blessing Board! Every couple of weeks, I change out the blessing on our chalkboard, and we recite it before our evening meal. A nice little ritual :-)
More on Advent another day (ours so far has been ... interesting, and unexpected!)
How was your food waste this week? Feel free to share here, or at Simply Being Mom (where Food Waste Friday is being hosted this week!); I'd love to hear from you!

I am a Pumpkin ...
We were so busy picking, rolling, reading and singing about, baking with and re-creating through handwork all things pumpkin, we haven't yet had a chance to actually carve a pumpkin! Sounds like a perfect rainy day activity, doesn't it?!
The Little Guy has been so excited about Halloween; we've been counting down the days for a while now. He and I made his costume together, which we both really enjoyed, and will be spending today in the kitchen baking cookies. We have decided to do a little Treating, along with our Trick and Treating this year, and deliver homemade cookies to our neighbors as we collect a few treats. I'll let you know how it goes!
What is your favorite pumpkin project? Feel free to share in the comments below; I'd love to hear from you!

October's Here Again!
Ah - October!
Time for pumpkins and baking, digging out scarves and coats, raking leaves and blustery walks. And it is, indeed, golden!
What does October mean to you? What are you doing to bring a little bit of October-ness into your lives?

Autumn, Good Morning!
I really love this time of year, the sudden slide from hot and lazy summer, to the bright coolness of Fall!
